Gooch & Housego is pleased to announce it has recruited the following people.
Precision Optics Product Manager
Alistair Heppell has been appointed as Product Manager for Precision Optics. Alistair is based at the company’s headquarters in Ilminster, Somerset.
In ‘91 Alistair joined Sterling Hydraulics as an apprentice and qualified as a planning engineer. He was responsible for the procurement of machine tools and automating operations including assisting in the design of automated assembly of hydraulics, using robots, as well as general planning responsibilities. In ‘01 Alistair moved to Kemek as a Program Manager.
Alistair originally joined G&H in ‘06 as Planning Engineer and G&H are delighted he has accepted his new post as Product Manager for Precision Optics.
US East Coast Sales Manager
Tom McGunigal has been appointed as US East Coast Sales Manager.
Tom has spent his career in design and project engineering roles focused on radar and satellite communication applications. He acquired an interest in photonics while calling on telecommunication equipment manufacturers like Ciena as a sales engineer for Anritsu.
He has held regional manager positions at Lightwave Microsystems, a manufacturer of arrayed waveguide gratings, and Ando (now Yokogawa). His most recent position was with EOX Sales, a manufacturers’ representative firm, where he provided technical support to his colleagues on photonics applications, in addition to covering his own territory.
Continuous Improvement Manager
Steve Love has been appointed by Gooch & Housego (UK) Ltd as Continuous Improvement Manager.
Steve has been involved in engineering, specifically in both Aerospace and Telecommunications during most of his career. He has an Honours degree in Physics from Nottingham University and went on to be awarded a MSc in Mechanics and Materials from London University.
Steve has considerable experience in Quality Assurance, Operations, R&D and the Supply Chain both as an engineer and also as a manager. He has a strong engineering back ground with experience in the design and manufacture of machined parts, assemblies and electro-optic components for aerospace and commercial applications.
Before joining G&H he worked for Barden Corp (UK) Ltd, a manufacturer of precision bearing for the aerospace markets and led the adoption of SC21 and other quality initiatives within the company. During this period he qualified as a 6Sigma Green Belt and also worked to achieve a NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques.
Supply Chain Manager
Mike Dyer has been appointed by Gooch & Housego (UK) Ltd as Supply Chain Manager
Mike has over 30 years experience in buying and has worked in the Petrochem, Defence, Telecoms and Aerospace sectors.
While at Nortel he received extensive training, including gaining a qualification as an Audit Lead Assessor.
Project Coordinator
Pam Druce has been appointed by Gooch & Housego (UK) ltd as Project Coordinator
Pam graduated from University of London, Royal Holloway & Bedford with a 2-1 in BSc Mathematics and Psychology
She has worked in precision engineering for 10 years as the Sales & Marketing Coordinator for various multinational and independent companies worldwide.
Planning Engineer
Giles Lock has been appointed by Gooch & Housego (UK) ltd as Planning Engineer
Giles graduated from Brunel University with a (BEng) Product Design & Manufacture. His previous post was Production Engineer with Daido Industrial Bearings.
Factory Staff
Gooch & Housego has also recruited an additional 25 people for its manufacturing department in Ilminster, UK and 5 people for its manufacturing department in Torquay, UK.
